By applying the laser on the affected part of the skin, the acne scar is vaporized therefore exposing new and smoother skin. This method can be painful therefore anesthesia is being applied. A method called fractional laser therapy is a development in technology that works at a deeper level compared to dermabrasion and laser resurfacing. This does not injure the outer portion of the skin compared to laser resurfacing and can take a shorter time to heal.

A less expensive option is using chemical peels such as benzoic peroxide and salicylic acid. They usually are ideal for mild acne. They literally take the top layers of your skin and expose newer and unscarred skin underneath. It can be a bit painful sometimes and you’ll have to avoid sunlight.
The punch method works great with ice pick scars but it can be quite expensive the advantage though is that punch treatment costs per punch and effectively gets rid of those unbecoming scars.
