Plus, you’ll find a lot of celebrities promoting this product. But it all goes down to the product’s effectiveness.

How Does Proactive Work?

Like other acne treatments, Proactive uses several chemicals to eliminate the factors that cause acne on the skin. Number one on the list are the acne causing bacteria normally found on the skin. Plus, it also works further in to the skin to prevent dead cells and other impurities from clogging the pores. Proactive comes in a package where you get the complete kit – toners, cleansers and moisturizers that are specifically formulated for everyday use. This is all part of the Proactive Remedy.

This is the three part treatment to achieving acne free skin. First, you use the cleanser to gently exfoliate dead skin cells by letting components such as benzoyl peroxide in to your pores. Then, the toner lessens pore size and hydrates the skin. Also, it helps rid the skin of other impurities. Lastly, you’ll have to apply the repairing acne moisturizer to stop acne causing build up.

Does it Really Work?

Proactive does not actually bring rapid results but it does rid you of your existing acne. Also, it helps in breakouts as it controls your pimples from getting pus-like and infected. It also effectively manages overactive sebaceous glands and unblocks pores though it does not prevent you from having other breakouts.

Most positive reviews give it credit for its fast wring acne ridding capabilities though it not great for a lost lasting acne cure. Also, it’s not quite effective as it treats acne form the surface, lacking focus on the internal causes of acne.

Reported Side Effects

Proactive is composed of benzoyl peroxide and glycolic acid. These products are FDA approved but like most drugs they also have side effects. Their known side effects include itchy, dry, flaky skin, redness and irritation. These are usually the most common side effects when you use ProActive therefore if you have very sensitive skin you might have to think twice before using such a product. Some instances may cause extreme drying of the skin making it scaly and irritated. Other side effects include toxic problems such us liver and kidney problems so if you have such, it might not be wise to use such.

Who are to Use It

If you have sensitive skin then this might not be for you. Those who have allergies to benzoyl peroxide and glycolic acid will also have to refrain from using the product. If you have used other products before that contained benzoyl then you can continue using this. Take not that you should not use other treatments as this can dry your skin. Plus, you’ll also need sun protection. An SPF lotion of at least 15 will do the trick.
